Thinking about rescuing a dog (or cat or bunny or bird or...)? Here are some helpful resources.
The Humane Society of the United States
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Pet Finder
Searchable database of adoptable dogs (and cats and other animals) by breed and zip code.
The Beagle Freedom Project
Beagles are the most frequently used breed in scientific experiments because they are so trusting. Often when the studies and experiments were completed, the beagles would be euthanized. Now when the studies and experiments are completed, some beagles are getting a chance to live as a family pet. I discovered this organization when I read Teresa J. Rhyne's memoirs The Dog Lived (and So Will I) and its sequel.
